Leggett & Platt is one of the largest external furniture manufacturers in Europe. With the increased demand for production, the company started facing challenges that could only be solved by automating their internal pallet transport. By choosing the Robotize GoPal fully-integrated solutions, Leggett & Platt not only automated their internal pallet transport but also boosted production, eliminated staff shortages, and optimized space distribution while saving 15% on costs in the internal transport department.
With its 33.000 m2 production area characterized by long distances and busy activity, Leggett & Platt needed a fast, safe, and easy to implement solution in order to automate their business. After researching left and right, Leggett & Platt decided to implement two Robotize GoPal 400 into their production. “Looking from the long-term perspective at the automation of internal transport, we realized the Robotize GoPal collaborative robots are the perfect support for our company” says Bartosz Giertyc.
The challenges have determined the company to think about the Robotize GoPal collaborative robots as a possible solution. “As a company, we use the Robotize GoPal collaborative robots for internal transport of pallets from A to B” says Bartosz Giertyc. Leggett & Platt uses two Robotize GoPal 400. “This method helped us to directly optimize production,” says Bartosz Giertyc.
Leggett & Platt choose to have the GoPal solution fully integrated with their existing ERP system. In this case, their ERP system makes delivery requests to the GoControl computer, which then places a delivery order in the robot system queue. These orders can be assigned priorities from low (waste removal) to high (materials supply).
The Robotize GoPal collaborative robots helpedLeggett & Platt solve their biggest problems: workforce shortages and space shortages. “With the implementation of the Robotize GoPal collaborative robots in our company we were able to move some employees to other departments where there were staff shortages. It allowed us to better use the skills of people working in our company” he says and explains that the Robotize GoPal collaborative robots bring other benefits such as the possibility to collect data and plan future targeted investments in a more profitable way. “The Robotize GoPal system allows us to collect various data such as daily completed orders, kilometers traveled, and other data, for example, to which production units we transport pallets and at what frequency,” says Bartosz Giertyc.
